PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for manufacturing a toner, the toner and a method for forming an image for suppressing bad odor produced during thermal fixing for a long period of time and obtaining images with high picture quality. SOLUTION: The method for manufacturing a toner includes a cleaning process to clean a product obtained by suspension polymerization of a radical polymerizable monomer composition comprising a radical polymerizable monomer, a coloring agent and a chain transfer agent in an aqueous medium. In this method, the water used in the cleaning process contains Thiobacillus microbes and a neutralizer to neutralize the sulfur oxide produced by the above microbes. The method for forming an image is carried out by using the toner manufactured by the above method.
