PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a toner amount detecting device for an image forming device which improves the detection precision of a toner consumption or toner remaining amount and securely prevents unnecessary replacement of a toner replenishing device or toner replenishment, and a toner amount calculating method using the device. SOLUTION: The toner amount detecting device 9 of a laser printer equipped with a counter 91 which counts rotational frequency information on the toner replenishing device supplying a toner to a developing device by rotation, a storage part 93 which stores the rotational frequency information on the toner replenishing device, and an arithmetic part 94 which computes the toner consumption or toner remaining amount of the toner replenishing device according to the rotational frequency information stored in the storage part is characterized in that the arithmetic part calculates the toner consumption or toner remaining amount by correcting the rotational frequency information of the toner replenishing device while considering the generation of a toner supply amount difference based upon a difference of an operation state showing whether the rotation of the toner replenishing device enters a stationary state or is in a transient state. |
