PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To effectively suppress projection of pressed refuse from a charging port upon a pressing plate reverse while effectively reducing a load on a pressing plate driving means and a load burden on a pressing plate and a supporting mechanism part therefor even when a refuse stowage box is full of pressed refuse in a refuse collection vehicle. SOLUTION: A controller C can control operations of a sliding plate driving means Ds and the pressing plate driving means Dp, so that upon an end of a forced pressing process, the pressing plate P is reversed as a primary step to a given intermediate reverse position Px set between a compression position Pf and a limit reverse position Pr, a sliding plate S is next lowered to a given intermediate lowering position Sx set between an upper limit position Su and a lower limit position Sd, and the pressing plate P is reversed as a secondary step to the limit reverse position Pr, after which secondary reverse, the pressing plate P starts a primary compression process.
