PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a vehicle body structure that can keep the head of an occupant away from a strength member on the vehicle body side portion, at side collision, with a simple configuration and without deteriorating the boarding property. SOLUTION: A step portion 30 protruding upward is placed on an end portion on the outer side in the direction of the vehicle width of a rear cross member 22, and an outside mounting portion 32 at the rear portion of a front sheet 20 is placed on the step portion 30 so that the height position of the outside mounting portion 32 on the rear cross member 22 is set at a position relatively higher than an inside mounting portion 31. According to the difference in the height position between the inside and outside mounting portions 31 and 32 on the rear cross member 22, upon side collision, a moment is generated in the direction in which the outside mounting portion 32 is moved upward with the inside mounting portion 31 as a supporting point, and a front sheet 2 is moved to the direction in which it is spaced away from a center pillar 6 and a side rail 7.
