A rollover sensing module (10) includes a roll angular rate sensor (12) and low-g and high-g vertical accelerometers (14,16), passing information to a microprocessor control unit (20) for processing the information to detect vehicle rollover conditions. The control unit can also receive other inputs and forms a rollover deployment command signal when detecting rollover conditions and also commands for controlling such as a seat-belt reel control (34), a pre-tensioner control (36) and a retractor control (40). AN Independent claim is included for a method of detecting an anticipated overturn condition of a vehicle.
