PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method and an apparatus for preventing the interference of a crossbar which surely enable forcible evacuation of the crossbar to a noninterferential region of the slide even when abnormalities occur in the control system and control source system of an electric driving means. SOLUTION: The apparatus is provided with a pushing-out lever 18 which is oscillatably provided almost in a workpiece transportation direction and can forcibly push out the crossbar 7 to the noninterferential region of the slide 1 directly or indirectly during oscillation from a downstream to an upstream side, and a power conversion means 10 to mechanically convert the vertical movement of the slide 1 into the oscillation of the pushing-out lever 18. The power conversion means is provided with first power conversion means 11a and 14 to convert the vertical movement of the slide 1 into turning movement, and second power conversion means 15 and 16 to convert the turning movement into the oscillation of the pushing-out lever 18. The power conversion means may be a link mechanism.
