PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an embroidery frame for a sewing machine capable of surely preventing floating of a clip due to sewing shrinkage. SOLUTION: This embroidery frame for a sewing machine is composed of a receiving frame 10 disposed to surround four sides of a space where an embroidery cloth C is placed, and the clip 20 engaged with the receiving frame 10 having the embroidery cloth C between them to cooperate with it for holding the embroidery cloth C. The receiving frame 10 is provided with a protrusion 16 disposed on the inner side of an inner circumferential surface 14a of a frame along it. The clip 20 is provided with a pair of holding pieces 21 and 22 disposed to face each other to elastically deform in mutually separating directions to be engaged with the protruded part 16, a connection piece 23 to connect upper end parts of the holding pieces 21 and 22 to each other, and a displacement protective piece 24 to be abutted on an inner circumferential surface 14a of the frame when the holding pieces 21 and 22 are engaged with the protruded part 16.
