PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a plant-growing container capable of operating without harming seedlings on transplanting the plant seedlings or taking out the grown plant seedlings, and also performing the cultivation by piling the containers up for increasing the volume efficiency of a cultivating installation. SOLUTION: This plant-growing container consisting of a cylindrical container body having an upper opening part capable of housing a plant-growing medium and a lid body for closing the upper opening part of the container body is characterized by forming a prescribed gap between the upper end of the container body and the upper bottom part of the lid body in a state that the lid body is installed on the container body, and an up and down directional length (X) of the gap and an up and down directional length (Y) from the upper end to the lower bottom part of the container body satisfy formula (1): X/Y>=0.2. The method for growing the plant by using the device is also provided.
