AIR CONDITIONER FOR BUS USING CENTRIFUGAL COMPRESSOR

PURPOSE: An air conditioner for a bus using a centrifugal compressor is provided to improve efficiency of the centrifugal compressor, and to minimize noise and vibration. CONSTITUTION: An air conditioner comprises a centrifugal compressor(2) compressing refrigerant evaporated by an evaporator(1) and introduced, driven by an engine(3); the engine(3) driving the centrifugal compressor; a step-up gear(4) comprising a plurality of gears including an input gear and an output gear, connected with the engine and the centrifugal compressor to increase output of the centrifugal compressor, and running the centrifugal compressor; a condenser(5) cooling and liquefying refrigerant discharged from the centrifugal compressor; a liquid receiver(6) storing refrigerant cooled and liquefied by the condenser; an expansion valve(7) dropping down pressure of refrigerant; and the evaporator evaporating refrigerant expanded in the expansion valve. The centrifugal compressor is driven to rotate at more than 20,000RPM. Step-up ratio of the step-up gear is more than 10:1 as RPM of the engine is 1,800-3,000 RPM.
