<p>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an improved streaming media method and apparatus which enable considerable reduction of the start time which an end user experiences. SOLUTION: A client device executes a step (406) for identifying a streamable media content which has an encoding bit rate related to itself and can be acquired from a server device through a communication link and a step (408) for providing a start request, which identifies the streamable media content, the communication link bandwidth, and the quantity of the streamable media content to be transmitted at a bitrate greater than the encoded bitrate but not greater than the communication link bandwidth, for the server device through the communication link.</p> |
