PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming device and its control method for printing a black letter of high quality in a color image while the printing at high speed is realized. SOLUTION: A color image is entered from a code input device 108. On the basis of regional property information embedded in each region in prescribed size in the entered color image, a black letter region is detected by the operation of a judgment result analyzing unit 110. In addition, the number of black letter regions that continue horizontally is measured by the operation of a black letter region continuous measurement unit 115.
