<p>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an ATM (asynchronous transfer mode) communication system for realizing communication between ATM nets without sacrificing high speed, large capacity and connection oriented property. SOLUTION: The ATM communication system is provided with an inter-net connection device for performing Internet working between ATM nets to be operated in an asynchronous transfer mode and a datagram server. When an address resolution target node for an ARP (address resolution protocol) request from an ATM net connected to the inter-net connection device itself does not exist in an ATM net connected to the connection device itself, the connection device performs ARP reply to the ARP request by replying the ATM address of ATM connection connected to the device itself, connects a first ATM connection indicated by the ATM address replied by the ARP reply to a second ATM connection set between the inter-net connection device and the datagram server, so that the transmission terminal of the datagram is directly connected to the datagram server by the ATM connection.</p> |
