摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a near-field optical probe integrated semiconductor laser which can be arranged closely to an object, is high in mass-productivity, and can be assembled easily. SOLUTION: A surface emitting semiconductor laser has at least a pair of reflecting mirrors respectively composed of semiconductor layers formed on the main surface of a semiconductor substrate and having different conductivities, and an active layer interposed between the reflecting mirrors and having a narrower forbidden band width than the semiconductor layers have. A probe which generates near-field light is formed at a light emitting position on the upper surface of the semiconductor laser. In part of the semiconductor substrate other than the forming area of the semiconductor laser, a hole is formed through the substrate from the main surface to the rear surface, and power to the main surface side of the semiconductor laser is performed from the rear surface side through the hole and an electrode formed to a height not higher than the upper surface of the laser.
