PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an oblique correlation adaptive I/P conversion processing device aiming at improvement of the effect of an oblique detection signal extension function. SOLUTION: The processing device is provided with an oblique direction detection circuit which detects correlations in oblique directions to detect the direction of the closest correlation, an error detection and correction circuit which corrects an error direction of a detection signal from the oblique direction detection circuit, a detection signal extension circuit which extends an oblique correlation area, an oblique correction circuit which generates and outputs an interpolation signal utilizing the oblique correlation, and a time base conversion circuit which converts the time base by switching and outputting an output signal from a video one-line delay memory and that from the oblique correction circuit, and the detection result is corrected in the essential direction of the closest oblique correlation with respect to a pixel which is judged to have no oblique correlation by error correction of erroneous detection.
