PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve the frequency characteristic deterioration at a high frequency, which is caused by realizing a pixel position matching processing at generation of a luminance signal by means of holding a preceding value in an image pickup device where a G imaging element is placed with R and B imaging elements is shifted 1/2 pixel. SOLUTION: Employing an LPF and an HPF having the gravity center at a spatial position shifted 1/2 pixel with respect to pixels of the imaging elements applies band division to an input signal to interpolate a value of each component at the spatial position shifted 1/2 pixel and to produce luminance signals and composite them. Through the configuration above, the deterioration in the frequency characteristics at a high frequency caused by holding the preceding value can considerably be enhanced.
