PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a gas collecting method and a gas collecting device by which gas generated from the internal part of a magnetic disk device can be easily and efficiently collected and quantitatively evaluated. SOLUTION: In the state that the magnetic disk device 50 whose internal part is opened and collecting liquid 46 is stored in a closed collecting container 40, the magnetic disk device and the collecting liquid are heated by a heating mechanism up to a prescribed collecting temperature and gas is generated from the magnetic disk device and the collecting liquid is vaporized. The vapor of the collecting liquid is brought into contact with the magnetic disk device, generated gas is collected by the vapor and then the collecting container is cooled to liquefy the vapor in which the generated gas is collected.
