PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a small-sized coin processing device capable of smoothly collecting even a large number of housed coins. SOLUTION: In the coin processing device, coins stored in a coin stock 18 are delivered to a conveying belt 204 and conveyed to an expelling port 22 in order to dispense the coins by rotating the conveying belt in the forward direction, or coins are collected to a collecting port 24 by rotating the conveying belt 204 in the reverse direction. The device is provided with a lock release means 38 for restraining the delivery of coins from the coin stock and eliminating a lock state in the conveying belt 204 when the lock state in the conveying belt 204 is detected by a detection sensor 224 for detecting the conveying state of coins in the conveying belt. The delivery of coins from the coin stock 18 is resumed when the elimination of the lock state in the conveying belt 204 by the lock release operation is detected by the detection sensor 224.
