PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for designing a support structure greatly reducing design man-hours. SOLUTION: The method for designing the support structure supporting a subject to be supported includes: (a) a step for letting the designer of the subject to be supported develop a basic plan including the layout of the subject to be supported, using a three-dimensional CAD device; (b) a step for letting the designer of the support structure develop a basic plan of the support structure using the three-dimensional CAD device and the data of the three- dimensional CAD device used in the step (a), concurrently with the execution of the step (a); (c) a step for determining, using the three-dimensional CAD device, whether or not there are problems with the basic plan of the subject to be supported and the basic plan of the support structure and, if there are any problems, repeating at least the step (a) or (b) until the problems are solved; and (d) a step for manufacturing the support structure according to the basic plan of the support structure freed from the problems as the result of the step (c).
