The invention relates to a method for presterilizing a tubular pouch packing machine to be used under aseptic conditions after presterilization. According to the invention, the filling material dosing device (5) pertaining to the machine and the shaping tube (4') that simultaneously functions as a filling tube are first vapor-sterilized and the sterile air supply to the dosing device, the shaping tube and the sterile chamber (6) is maintained. The packing tube formed at the shaping tube (4') from the web of packing material which is longitudinally sealed is maintained open below the discharge opening (10) of the sterile chamber (6) in order to allow the sterile air as well as the vapor/sterilant mixture injected into the sterile chamber to be discharged from the shaping tube and from the packing tube that is open at the bottom after presterilization of the dosing device.
