<p>An R sub-unit protein of an E. coli Type IC restriction-modification (R-M), endonuclease in which an N-terminal portion of the R sub-unit, preferably at least amino acids 1-140, especially 1-146, is derived from EcoprrI and the remainder is derived from another E.coli Type IC R-M endonuclease, preferably EcoR1241. The R-M endonuclease formed from the R sub-unit substantially in the R1M2S stoichiometric form, complexes with DNA and can be powered by Mg2+ and ATP to form a molecular motor capable of moving DNA.</p> |
