The present invention relates to a device for unwinding a continuous component (5) of a component yarn on a rotor spinning machine for producing the component yarn including a spun component of separated fibers and a continuous component (5), wherein the device comprises two unwinding shafts (1, 2) being parallel to each another and mounted along work stations of the machine. The first unwinding shaft (1) is rotatable and is coupled to a central control drive (4) with adjustable ratio between the speed of said rotatable unwinding shaft (1) and the speed of a draw-off shaft (402) of a yarn draw-off mechanism from the rotor. Each workstation is provided with a first condenser drum (11) that is rotatably mounted on the rotatable unwinding shaft (1) and that can be coupled to said rotatable unwinding shaft (1) by means of a coupling (12). The other unwinding shaft (2) is fixed and a second condenser drum (21) for each workstation is mounted thereon.
