PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an inexpensive highly ion-conductive solid electrolyte utilizing an organic-inorganic composite compound achieving both water absorption properties and water resistance, and an electrochemical system using the highly ion-conductive solid electrolyte. SOLUTION: The electrochemical system basically consists of a highly ion- conductive solid electrolyte comprising a composite compound which is composed of a tungstic acid compound or a molybdic acid compound containing water and a polyvinyl alcohol. The tungstic acid compound or a molybdic acid compound is obtained by neutralizing with an acid an aqueous solution having dissolved therein an alkali metal salt of tungstic acid or molybdic acid and a polyvinyl alcohol, removing water as a solvent and subsequently removing unnecessary salts. The highly ion-conductive solid electrolyte comprises a composite compound composed of the tungstic acid compound or the molybdic acid compound, a polyvinyl alcohol and water. Various electrochemical systems obtained using the highly ion-conductive solid electrolyte are also provided. |
