SOLUTION: A method of operating a protective device of the automobile 10 is provided. This method comprises a step of monitoring a collision related to an object in a car and the automobile, a step of evaluating data based on a monitoring result, a step of making an operation plan based on the data evaluation, and a step of operating the protective device. An operation is determined based on the evaluation of data related to both the collision and an environment.
