PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve automatic focusing performance when photographing a still picture. SOLUTION: The focusing state obtained by a focusing means is discriminated when still picture photographing is indicated. When the discriminated focusing state is the in-focus state in a prescribed level or higher, the focusing means is operated on the basis of data which the focusing means has obtained for focusing operation before the indication of still picture photographing. When the discriminated focusing state is not the in-focus state in the prescribed level or higher, the focusing means is operated on the basis of data which the focusing means obtains for focusing operation after the indication of still picture photographing. |
