PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an air conditioner that can offer efficient cooling and heating operations by ensuring a liquid refrigerant in a receiver tank, supplying a supercooled liquid refrigerant to a restriction mechanism and exerting a sufficient capacity of a refrigeration cycle in both cooling and heating operations. SOLUTION: The air conditioner, which connects a compressor 1, a four-way valve 2, an outdoor heat exchanger 3, the restriction mechanism 5 and an indoor heat exchanger 6 in sequence with piping to form a refrigeration cycle, and comprises the receiver tank 4 between the outdoor heat exchanger 3 and the restriction mechanism 5, has a plurality of check valves 7a to 7d whose direction of a refrigerant flow flowing to the receiver tank 4 is constant despite a switchover of the four-way valve 2, and has a heat exchange part 8 for conducting a liquid refrigerant separated in the receiver tank 4 and flowing to the restriction mechanism 5 and an intake refrigerant returning to the compressor 1 via the four-way valve 2 to develop heat exchange, between a bottom outlet of the receiver tank 4 and the restriction mechanism 5.
