PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a toner of high image quality for which toner cleaning is easy at the time of cleaning by a blade cleaning system or the like and an electrostatic charge image on an image carrier such as a photoreceptor is faithfully reproduced in underwater granulated toner by a small particle size polymerization method or the like. SOLUTION: A toner composition containing a colorant and a denatured polyester resin reactive with active hydrogen is dissolved or dispersed in an organic solvent to form a dissolved material or a dispersed material. The dissolved material or the dispersed material is brought into a reaction with a cross linking agent and/or a stretching agent in an aqueous solvent, a solvent is removed from an obtained dispersed liquid to obtain resin particles containing a colorant. The electrophotographic toner is characterized in that it is made of resin particles in which the average circularity is 0.920 to 0.960.
