PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an automatic transmission for vehicle capable of downsizing a shifting operation mechanism. SOLUTION: This automatic transmission (10) for vehicle, equipped with the shifting operation mechanism (20) which is capable of selecting a desired range by the operation of a select lever 21 and a transmission means which is capable of transmitting the movement by the operation of the select lever (21) to the range shifting mechanism of an automatic transmission (11) to be rotated and shifting the automatic transmission (11) to a desired range, comprises an operating effort assist device (40) with a motor (42a) as a driving source, which is mounted on a linkage section (50) of the shifting operation mechanism (20) to the transmission means (30).
