PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a resin composition in which a laminar titanic acid nanosheet is uniformly dispersed and which exhibits excellent mechanical strength and heat resistance. SOLUTION: This resin composition comprises (a) 100 parts wt. of a synthetic resin and (b) 0.5-100 parts wt. of a laminar titanic acid which is obtained by treating a laminar titanate represented by general formula Ax My (square)z Ti2-(y+z) O4 [A and M are each mutually different monovalent to trivalent metal; (square) is a defect part of Ti; x is a positive real number to satisfy 0<x<1.0 and y and z are each 0 or a positive real number to satisfy 0<y+z<1.0] with an acid, etc., substituting 40-99% of A and/or M ion with hydrogen and/or hydronium ion, then treating the resulting substance with a basic compound having interlayer swelling action, swelling or releasing the interlayer or treating the laminar titanic acid with an acid or not and then treating the resulting substance with a basic compound having interlayer swelling action.
