PURPOSE: A method for controlling the temperature of a liquid crystal display device is provided to measure the temperature of an LCD panel precisely, and precisely control the cooling or heating amount by the comparison of the measured temperature with a reference temperature of the LCD panel. CONSTITUTION: A method for controlling the temperature of a liquid crystal display device includes the steps of calculating and measuring temperature data of blanking sections in which no video data signal of signal pulse is input to an LCD panel by a temperature data generating part, calculating a control value for a thermoelectric element according to a difference between of the measured temperature and a reference temperature preset in a control part(microcomputer), and reducing the temperature difference between the reference temperature and the LCD panel by driving the thermoelectric element according to the control value.
