PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To control a target unit by making one or a plurality of external units to access the state of the target unit and to communicate with the target unit. SOLUTION: The printer 10 connected with an external unit 30 for inputting/ outputting data through a specified communicating means and receiving data from the external unit 30 comprises means for storing the identification data of the printer 10, means 105 for storing the dynamic state of the printer, and means for transmitting the identification data of the printer 10 to the external unit 30 upon turn on power of the printer 10.
