PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for joining a sealed-type driving machine to an existing structure underground and the sealed-type driving machine used for executing the method. SOLUTION: Pretreatments are performed on the ground of a part to be joined underground. A flange 17 and a window hole 18 are provided for a cut part in a hood 1a and a bulkhead 1b of the sealed-type driving machine 1, and a partition plate 19 is detachably mounted to the window hole 18. One spoke 10A of a cutter for excavation is constituted shortly. A succeeding tube 16 is connected immediately after the driving machine. Solidifying treatments are performed on mud, etc., in a driving machine chamber at the location of underground joining, equipment in the diving machine is removed, and a casing placing device 30 is installed in the succeeding tube 16. Support casings 4 are sequentially placed through the window hole 18. After all the support casings 4 are placed, the casing placing device 30 is removed. Full-scale dismantlement and removal including the bulkhead of the driving machine 1 and the excavation of the ground required for underground connection to the existing structure are performed.
