PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a surface light-emitting device and a liquid crystal display device provided with this wherein utilization efficiency of the lightsource is high, and brightness is high and an outgoing beam is superior in uniformity. SOLUTION: A front light 10 is provided with a light guide plate 12, a bar light guide body 13 arranged along one side end face 12a of the light guide plate 12, and a light emitting element 15 arranged and installed on both ends of the bar light guide body 13, and a cover member 18 having a reflecting face cover part 18a to cover a side end part of a reflecting face 12c side of the light guide plate 12, a light guide body cover part 18c to cover the light guide body 13, and a light outgoing face cover part 18b to cover the side end part of the light outgoing face 12b side of the light guide plate 12 are coated so as to cover at least the light guide body 13 and the side end part of the light guide plate 12, and the reflecting face cover part 18a is formed to be long protruded into the light guide direction forward side from the light outgoing face cover part 18b. |
