PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a photoelectric conversion element of low-cost and good conversion efficiency, and also to provide a solar cell. SOLUTION: An oxide semiconductor is used which is sensitized by methine dye of a specific structure. The specific structure is represented by the expression (1), comprising the part of salicylic acid. Here, the part of salicylic acid may form such salt as metal salt, for example, lithium, sodium, kalium, magnesium, and calcium, or as quaternary ammonium salt, for example, tetramethylammonium, tetrabutylammonium, pyridinium, and imidazolium. |
