PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming apparatus in which an intermediate transfer body is employed and operations of replacing units such as the intermediate transfer body, and of jam removal processing, etc., can be easily carried out and which can be small-sized. SOLUTION: The image forming apparatus is provided with an image forming unit 4 consisting of a plurality of developing units 3 which form a toner image of different colors on an image carrier 2, respectively, an endless belt type intermediate transfer body 5 which performs primary transfer of the toner images of respective colors developed by the developing units 3 of the image forming unit 4, a secondary transfer roll 7 which performs secondary transfer of the toner image formed on the intermediate transfer body 5 on the recording material, and a fixing roll 8 which fixes the toner image on the recording material 6 subjected to secondary transfer by the secondary transfer roll 7. In the image forming apparatus, each developing unit 3 of the image forming unit 4 is arranged with inclination, and the intermediate transfer body 5 is supported movably between a position where the intermediate transfer body 5 abuts on the image carrier 2 of the developing unit 3, and a position where the body 5 is separated from the image carrier 2 of the developing unit 3. |
