PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent the deterioration of recording mark by decreasing the peak temperature of temperature of a data-storage medium and restrain the occurrence of noises of the medium, by avoiding the increase in bottom tempera ture particularly when a high-power reproducing laser is irradiated. SOLUTION: When a laser light irradiated to the data-storage medium is pulse-driven, its pulse waveform does not coincide with the pulse waveform (W2a) of conventional sine wave, but a pulse waveform (W2b) for which the rise time of reproduction power to a peak value is shorter than the fall time is used.
