PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide alternate current driving type plasma display equipment, which has high relative dielectric constant, has uniform and homogeneous quality, and moreover has a precise and thin dielectric layer. SOLUTION: The alternate current driving type plasma display equipment is constituted by joining an electric discharge maintaining electrode formed on a 1st substrate, a 1st panel equipped with a dielectric layer formed on the 1st substrate and the electric discharge maintaining electrode, and a 2nd panel, at those perimeter portions. This dielectric layer consists of a nitrogen compound, for example, SiNX, SiOXNY, Mg3 N2 , AIN, or BCN.
