PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an organic EL element capable of enhancing its reliability by preventing alkaline earth metal forming a cathode from being metamorphosed without making its manufacturing process complicated and difficult, and its manufacturing method. SOLUTION: In this organic EL element, a transparent electrode 17, a hole transporting layer 22, and a luminescent layer 18 are laminated in this order on a glass base 16, and a Ca/Al laminated electrode 21 comprising two layers of a Ca layer 19 and an Al layer 20 is formed on a part of the luminescent layer 18. In addition, a protective layer 23 and a photo resist pattern 24 are laminated on top of that. A CaF2 layer 25 is formed on the end surface of the Ca layer 19. |
