PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To effectively use a storage device mounted on a process cartridge of an image forming device. SOLUTION: The image forming device in which the detachable cartridge is loaded holds information regarding a usage of an area C of an EEPROM 6A mounted on the cartridge in an area A to effectively utilize the area C. According to the information held in the area A, a CPU 102A decides which of 1st and 2nd usages the area A is used for and controls the reading and writing of the area C according to the decision result. Further, the CPU 102A can effectively use the information on a store etc. originally stored in the area C without destroying the original information by saving it on the image forming device or its host computer. |
