The invention discloses use of a mucoadhesive agent which is a polyacrylate or a salt thereof and a biological response modifier for the preparation of pharmaceutical composition for simultaneous or sequential use in the prevention or treatment of radiation and/or chemotherapy induced damage to mucosal surfaces.
