PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a casing of a free-piston stirling device being low-cost, lightweight, easy to assemble, and unaffected by deformation under pressure, while keeping airtightness high. SOLUTION: A plurality of tabs 11b are punched and formed at a circumferential surface near an open end of a front casing manufactured by the deep drawing of a metallic plate, with the tip of each tab bent and inclined radially inwards. A cylinder 23 is provided with a stepped portion 23e, a locking circumferential groove 23g, and a seal part 23c on the outer periphery thereof. When the free-piston stirling device 2 is inserted into the front casing 11 and the open end of the front casing abuts the stepped portion 23e, the tips of the tabs 11b fit into the locking circumferential groove 23g to fix the position of the free-piston stirling device along the direction of insertion. The front casing 11, a center casing 12 and a rear casing 13 are hermetically joined together by welding their respective overall peripheries together.
