PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an assembly method for optical submarine repeater which prevents an LD/PD from being damaged under static electricity in an assembly process. SOLUTION: The LD/PD 16 is fitted to a sub-chassis 17. A bundle of lead wires 23 is connected to a terminal 21 of the LD/PD 16. The lead wire 23 of the bundle is grounded, and under this condition, the sub-chassis 17 is fitted to a main-chassis 10 with an insulating material 18 in between. The other end of an optical fiber 6 whose one end is connected to the LD/PD 16 is connected to an optical component circuit unit 22. The lead wire 23 is inserted into a through hole 11a opened on the sub-chassis 11 of an electric circuit unit 13 for re-grounding. The electric circuit unit 13 is fitted to the main-chassis 10 through an insulating material 15. Each of the lead wires 23 is electrically connected, one by one, to an electric circuit of a substrate 12, while others are kept grounded.
