Method for measuring the heat or power loss of an electrical device in which the device is operated in a thermally insulated container and the temperature increase over time measured. The measured temperature increase is used to determine the heat loss. An Independent claim is made for an apparatus for measuring the heat or power loss of an electrical device. The apparatus comprises a thermally insulated container (1) with at least one opening (3) for an electrical cable and a watertight lining (6) within its internal space (4).
