The invention relates to a method for the interlock-free commutation of the output current of a half-bridge in only one step. The information about the current direction forms the basis of the invention. Depending on a nominal connection to the inputs E+ or E-, only the switch that can control the current in the actual current direction is switched on or off, and the other switch remains switched off, resulting in high commutation frequencies and low deviations between the actual output voltage and the nominal output voltage.
