PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a liquid crystal display device which uniformly displays an image. SOLUTION: A plurality of transparent electrodes 4 consisting of ITO (indium tin oxide) or the like are aligned on a transparent substrate 1 in stripes, an insulating film 6 is coated on the transparent electrodes 4, and further an alignment layer 7 is coated on the insulating film 6. Also a plurality of transparent electrodes 5 are aligned in stripes on a transparent substrate 2 whose area is larger than that of the transparent substrate 1, and further an alignment layer 8 is coated thereon. Subsequently both transparent substrates 1, 2 are disposed oppositely to each other via liquid crystal 10. In this case, the insulating film 6 is formed so that its film thickness is made thick at a voltage inputting part P of the transparent electrodes 4 and is made thinner as coming closer to its ends.
