PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a flame retardant polyester resin composition having an excellent flame retarding property without using red phosphorus, which has a possibility of generating halogenated organic compounds and a poisonous gases, while exerting no effect on polyester's original mechanical and processing characteristics. SOLUTION: The polyester resin composition is prepared by incorporating 10-50 pts.wt. of a novolac phenol resin having a softening point of >=120 deg.C (B), 10-60 pts.wt. of a phosphorus base flame retarding agent (C), 5-50 pts.wt. of a metal hydroxide (D), 0-100 pts.wt. of glass fibers (E) and 0-2.5 pts.wt. of a silane coupling agent having either one of an epoxy group or a vinyl group and also an alkoxy group in a molecule (F) to 100 pts.wt. of a polyester resin (A).
