PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain high-purity camptothecin in a high yield even if plants, which are rich in resins and chlorophyll, such as the fruits of Camptotheca or the twigs and leaves of young Camptotheca, are used as the raw material. SOLUTION: The production method of camptothecin includes an extraction process which extracts camptothecin from Camptotheca containing camptothecin, adsorption process, dissolution-and-separation process using nonaqueous solvent(s), adsorption process and a dissolution-and-extraction process using nonaqueous solvent(s). High-purity camptothecin is useful for the production of drugs for treating cancers and so on.
