PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an ophthalmic examination device which can set the closest position for an examining part accurately regardless of the shape of the face of a subject and can stop the examining part at the closest position accurately. SOLUTION: The ophthalmic examination device is equipped with a support 2, an examination unit 3 which is loaded on the support 2 movably and operates at an operating position a predetermined distance away from the eyes to be examined, an optical system 7 for deciding Z position which automatically aligns the examination unit 3 with the eyes E to be tested in the Z direction, a device for setting the closest position to set the closest position for the examination unit 3, and a mechanism to stop forward movements which stops or moves back the examination unit 3 making forward movements at the preset closest position. The device for setting the closest position has an ultrasonic proximal sensor 11 which detects distance from the eyelids of the subject and the examination unit 3 and a motor with an encoder to detect relative moving distance of the examination unit 3 to the trestle 2. |
