PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide umbrella rib structure by which even a reinforced plastic made rib can be locally bent easily and beautifully, the bent shape can be stably retained, and a shape is shown slimmer in a closed condition. SOLUTION: A notch 11a hemispherical in size view is formed in a position near the tip 15 on a rib 11 made of fiber reinforced plastic. A part 11c to the tip 15 side from that position is bent to the shaft 3 side and a shape keeping member 21 is outsert-molded with grass fiber reinforced nylon on the whole periphery of the bent part 19 so as to fill up the notch 11a. Accordingly because even that kind of rib can be easily and beautifully bent at a desired position and the bent shape can be securely kept by the shape keeping member 21, all the end parts 11c of ribs 11 are mutually inward inclined to form a truncated cone with the top part to the handle 5 side to make the whole into a slim shape when this umbrella structure is closed.
