A stationary water supply pipe is connected by a flexible tube 3 to a further tube 4 carrying an outlet nozzle 5 having an adjustable outlet, and the water jet from the nozzle strikes and drives a blade wheel 11. The nozzle and wheel are mounted on a supporting structure and the wheel drives, through gearing, the structure about the pipe 1. The nozzle and blade wheel are mounted on a support 7 which is adjustably pivoted at 8 to an arm 9 on a collar 10, thereby enabling the nozzle inclination to be varied. As the assembly rotates about the pip 1 the tube 4 rotates within a guide 18 on a further support 12. An arrangement for varying the size of the nozzle outlet as the nozzle is turned about the pipe 1 consists of a frusto-conical tube 19, Fig. 3, of a distortable material fixed within the tube 4 and shrouded with a set of metal blades. A member 22 screwed to the tube 4 has a conical bore which engages the outer wall of the tube 19 to constrict its outlet as the member 22 is screwed up. The member is secured to a toothed ring 25, Figs. 2 and 3, which is engaged by a pawl 26 on a rod 27. An adjustable screw 29 is mounted on an extension 28 of the rod 27, Fig. 1, and engages a cam track 30, so that as the nozzle rotates about the pipe the cam causes the pawl to engage or disengage the ring 25, thereby causing the member 22 to be screwed up on the tube. Alternatively, the member may be moved relative to a fixed tapering stud within the tube 4 to vary the liquid delivery. A further stud 35, Fig. 1, on the rod 27 interrupts the liquid jet to effect spraying over square areas. A flexible element 39 between the support 12 and the support 7 allows the former to be rocked relative to the latter, thereby effecting oscillation of the nozzle in vertical planes. For this purpose a threaded rod 43, Fig. 5, which has an adjustable stud 49 engaging the support 12 is connected to a collar 44 engaging a groove in an eccentric mounted on the main drive shaft 38, so that as the shaft rotates the nozzle is oscillated.</p>
