FIELD: cutting of constructional materials, cutting tools. SUBSTANCE: method comprises steps of mounting cutter with stem in carrier having seat; placing carrier with cutter in cutter holder of machine tool having fastening members and clamping carrier by means of said fastening members. In order to enhance reliability of cutter mounting in carrier, cover strip with groove is used. After mounting cutter in seat, placing cover strip on stem having trapezoidal cross section in such a way that inclined lateral sides of groove of cover strip are joined with lateral sides of stem and lateral surfaces of cover strip are joined with lateral surfaces of seat. Carrier with cutter is mounted in cutter holder of machine tool together with cover strip; cutter and cover strip are clamped in seat of carrier under pressure acting upon cover strip from at least of one of fastening members until wedging cover strip in seat.
